Various Pathways to Permanent Residency for onshore students

(must have completed their course in the last 6 months and have completed a mimumum of 2 yrs of full time course in Australia)

OPTION 1:

If the student has successfully completed a course which is assessable by the authorized assessing body as an occupation which is eligible for 50 or 60 points:

a) Apply for Skilled - Graduate (Temporary) Visa subclass 485 [no minimum points required]

This visa allows the applicant and the family to live in Australia for 18 months with full time work and study permit.

b) The applicant will then work towards gaining extra points through full time paid work experience in his/her nominated occupation or completing a professional year and/or IELTS score of 7 in each band or State/Territory Sponsorship which ever is achievable to meet the pass points for a permanent visa.

b) If 120 points can be scored apply for Skilled - Independent (Residence) Visa subclass 885 or

c) If State/Territory Sponsorship apply for Skilled - Sponsored (Residence) Visa subclass 886 [minimum 100 points required] or Skilled - Regional Sponsored (Provisional) Visa subclass 487 [minimum 100 points required] depending on the type of sponsorship approved.

OPTION 2:

If sponsored by a State/Territory or an Eligible Relative

apply for Skilled - Sponsored (Residence) Visa subclass 886 [minimum 100 points required]

OPTION 3:

If sponsored by a state/territory for a regional area or sponsored by an Eligible relative living in a designated area of Australia

a) Apply for Skilled - Regional Sponsored (Provisional) Visa subclass 487 [minimum 100 points required]

b) The applicant and his/her family must live in the designated area for minimum 2 yrs and work full time for minimum 1 yr

After meeting the condition (b) apply for for Skilled - Regional (Residence) Visa subclass 887 [no points required]

OPTION 4:

If the applicant is eligible for 120 points apply for Skilled - Independent (Residence) Visa subclass 885.
